The Dolphins are Back!

We had a perfect night of sailing downwind last night. Winds were East at 10 Kts most of the night and the half moon shined through the clouds until around 3:00 AM. Dad took the first shift from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Tim drew 2nd shift from 10:00 PM until 1:00 AM. Clark was up next from 1:00 AM until 4:00 AM and Michelle finished off the night from 4:00 until 7:00 AM.

Around 8:00 AM, a school of dolphin came to check us out and stayed to play in our bow wake for almost an hour. I couldn’t get anyone else interested in watching, so Tug Boat and I sat on the bow to watch the show including youngsters leaping clear of the water on either side and doing aerial summersaults. I was beginning to think the Dolhin had left the planet (ala The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe) because we haven’t been visited since our 2nd day out. I’m sure glad their back and the world isn’t coming to an end…

Today we’ve been fighting a contrary, 1 to 2 knot current so our progress is a little slower than we’d like, but overall it has been a really relaxing day with 10-15 Kt ESE winds. Late today we turned a bit south to see if we can get out of this eddy. Regardless, we’re coming home!

At 4:00 PM CST, our position is: 25 01.290 North and 84 49.054 West. Glad/Sad to be heading west!!
