Globalstar and Ocens gave me an early April Fools joke! They lead me to believe that I could send and receive emails at will. Jokes on me!

I’ve discovered a conflict that will keep us from corresponding with you during our Gulf Crossing:

The AIS system we have installed (think of it as a transponder for boats — they can see us and we can see them) has some unknown conflict with the Globalstar Satellite Phone modem. They don’t work at the same time, so while I love the idea of being able to send/receive email “at will” when at sea, safety wins and we’ll keep the AIS.

Add one more item to my repair list when we get to Florida…
